We left Zermatt and headed to Grindlewald, another hiking mecca. It was no great surprise to us that it was raining upon arrival. We heard, once again, that the weather would improve in a few days. Thus far, these predictions had not been accurate! However, we have great rain gear and a new waterproof bag for the camera, so it doesn´t really bother us much any more. We took a rainy hike up to the high pasture land our first day. The weather cleared just enough to keep us below the clouds most of the day. The next day, we took a spetacular hike to the glacier visible from town. It was our first hike without rain!!! As you can see from the photos, it was a beautiful day.
Following that, we hiked from the camp along the Eigertrail (at the foot of the Eiger) toward Gimmelwald. It was a long uphill climb, but we were rewarded with the best campsite ever. On one side was the north wall of the Eiger and on the other side, we could just see the Monch and Jungfrau mountains. Pretty spectacular.
